UCB Minzasolmin Parkinson’s Study Misses Endpoints

UCB says the ORCHESTRA Phase 2a proof-of-concept study of minzasolmin did not meet its primary and secondary clinical endpoints. The drug is described as an investigational, oral small molecule, alpha-synuclein misfolding inhibitor that was being developed with Novartis to treat early Parkinson’s disease.

A company statement says UCB is terminating the extension phase of the development program based on the absence of evidence of clinical benefit in both primary and secondary endpoints. It says disease biomarker data, in which there was a preliminary signal, are still being analyzed. The company reports that minzasolmin’s safety profile was consistent with previous knowledge and no new safety concern was identified.
