United Pharmacy GAC Degrading Early: FDA

FDA says its laboratory analysis shows that United Pharmacy’s glutamine, arginine, and carnitine (GAC) 10/100/200 mg/mL product for injection is degrading before the beyond0use date of six months specified on the product label. An agency notice says it previously reported that the product was labeled as containing 10 mg/mL of glutamine, but none was found in samples from two lots tested within expiry. Analysis of the active pharmaceutical ingredient suggested that the formulation of glutamine was chemically unstable before the expiration date was reached.

United Pharmacy recalled all of the GAC 10/100/200 mg/mL injection products and stopped production of its formulation 12/21/17, after FDA notified the compounder of the results, the agency says.
