Updated Boxed Warning for Rx Stimulants

FDA says it is requiring updates to the Boxed Warning and other information for prescription stimulants to ensure the prescribing information is consistent across the entire class of drugs, The drugs are used to treat attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, binge-eating disorder, and narcolepsy.

An agency notice says the current prescribing information for some of the drugs does not have up-to-date warnings about the harms of misuse and abuse, and particularly that most individuals who misuse prescription stimulants get their drugs from other family members or peers.
