Ventis Emergency Transport Ventilator Cleared

FDA has cleared a Ventis Medical 510(k) for the VM-2000, an emergency transport ventilator that allows medical personnel to provide respiratory support with robust volume and pressure control modes in the field.

The company says the battery-operated device weighs less than many standard laptop computers. It features “turbine power” that allows it to function without oxygen tanks, and a graphical touchscreen, which permits users to select therapy and monitor pressure and volume.

Ventis says it has partnered with Sanmina Corp., a contract manufacturer who will assemble the devices in the U.S.
