Verrica Pharma Resubmits NDA for Molluscum Drug

Verrica Pharmaceuticals has resubmitted its NDA for VP-102 (cantharidin 0.7% topical solution), a proprietary topical therapy for treating molluscum contagiosum (molluscum). In 7/2020, FDA issued a complete response letter seeking additional chemistry, manufacturing, and controls information and human factors validation. A company notice at the time said the agency did not identify any clinical deficiencies. FDA has set a 6/23 user fee review action target date for the resubmission. The company says VP-102 is a potential first-in-class topical therapy for treating molluscum contagiosum and it also is in trials as a treatment for common warts and external genital warts.
