Vyaire Medical Recall Fluid Warming Cartridges

Vyaire Medical has recalled its enFlow Fluid Warming System disposable cartridges due to the potential for aluminum to elute from the warmer into the fluids, which could expose patients to unsafe levels of aluminum. “Exposure to unsafe levels of aluminum may result in serious adverse health consequences including, but not limited to, muscle weakness, various neurocognitive and bone marrow complications, or death,” a recall notice says. The warming system is indicated for warming blood, blood products and intravenous solutions prior to intravenous administration to a patient. No injuries or deaths have been reported, the notice says.
