FDA says the 6/20 Vyaire Medical recall of 2,150 units nationwide of its Tri-Flo Subglottic Suction System due to risk of device breakage is a Class 1 recall. An agency [notice](https://www.fda.gov/MedicalDevices/Safety/ListofRecalls/ucm619235.htm?ref=fdaweb.com) says the units were distributed between 1/23 and 5/23\. The notice says that healthcare providers typically use the system to remove liquid or semisolids that block an adult patient’s airway when an endotracheal tube is in place. Vyaire is recalling the units, FDA says, because there is a risk that the distal soft tip of the catheter may break off and enter the patient’s lungs, resulting in serious adverse health consequences.
