Ways Pharma Can Use Social Media
In a Forbes blog interview, cardiologist Kevin Campbell says there are six ways that drug companies can use social media effectively while still complying with rules and regulations. He identifies them as:
consumer education with disease-specific information that presents topics broadly and is relatively non-biased so that patients may understand their disease and better engage with their healthcare providers to improve outcomes; marketing through sharing of news releases on new drugs, medical devices, features, clinical trial results, etc.; connection with customers/patients through patient support groups and communities; connection with physician-customers through Twitter chats with doctors as an efficient means of professional education without the expense of drug representatives in the doctor’s office; clinical trial enrollment; and social listening through which unmet needs can be identified and priorities for research and development funding determined.
