AdvaMed says that to develop appropriate solutions to pediatric device development, it is important to understand existing barriers. Responding to an FDA public meeting on pediatric medical device development, the association [provides](https://www.regulations.gov/document?D=FDA-2018-N-0404-0008&ref=fdaweb.com) a series of recommended solutions that are intended to reduce risk in pediatric device development by **(1)** reducing the costs and burden associated with FDA review or approval while maintaining the agency’s bar for strong safety and effectiveness; **(2)** providing an initial income stream by providing coverage and reimbursement policies in early device development phases; and **(3)** creating tax-related and other financial incentives to develop pediatric devices.
