Web Site Selling Illegal New Drugs, FDA Says

FDA says its review of a Web site at www.pharmacygeoff.md determined that the site is offering drug products for sale in the U.S. intended to mitigate, treat, prevent, diagnose, or cure Covid-19 and several other diseases such as lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, malaria, HIV, and hepatitis C. A just-released 4/15 Warning Letter says the agency has determined that the products are misbranded unapproved new drugs.

Among the products offered, the letter says, are Plaquenil (hydroxychloroquine sulfate) manufactured by Sanofi, Lariago-DS (chloroquine), and Hivus-LR (lopinavir and ritonavir).

“FDA is taking this action against www.pharmacygeoff.md because of the inherent risk to consumers who purchase misbranded and unapproved new drugs,” the letter says. The Web site was told to respond within 48 hours with a list of specific steps taken to address the violations and prevent their recurrence, with an explanation and documentation of each step, and a timetable for completing the work.
