Website Warned on Covid-19 Unapproved Drugs

FDA says that a Web site operating at unitedpharmacies.md is offering drug products for sale in the U.S. intended to mitigate, prevent, treat, diagnose, or cure Covid-19 in people. A just-released 3/30 Warning Letter says the firm’s products are considered to be unapproved new drugs that also are misbranded. “We request that you take immediate action to cease the sale of such unapproved and unauthorized products for the mitigation, prevention, treatment, diagnosis, or cure of Covid-19,” the letter says.

The agency cites the Web site’s offer of the HIV drugs lopinavir and ritonavir, marketed as Lopimune and Hivus-LR, and also ribavirin, marketed as Ribasure. It says there are no approved applications for the Web site’s Lopimune, Hivus-LR, or Ribasure.
