# Wholesale Distributor Verification Enforcement Off till 2023

FDA has announced an additional three-year delay in enforcement of the requirement for wholesale distributors to verify saleable returned product as required under the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act. A 2019 compliance policy said enforcement of the requirement would be delayed until 11/27/20.

The agency has now published a [guidance](https://www.fda.gov/regulatory-information/search-fda-guidance-documents/wholesale-distributor-verification-requirement-saleable-returned-drug-product-and-dispenser?ref=fdaweb.com), *Wholesale Distributor Verification Requirement for Saleable Returned Drug Product and Dispenser Verification Requirements When Investigating a Suspect or Illegitimate Product—Compliance Policies*, delaying enforcement to 11/27/23\. It also delays until 11/27/23 enforcement of a requirement for dispensers to verify the product identifier when investigating suspect or illegitimate product.
