FDA has announced a 2/25 [public workshop](https://www.fda.gov/medical-devices/workshops-conferences-medical-devices/public-workshop-evolving-role-artificial-intelligence-radiological-imaging-02252020-02262020?utm%5Fcampaign=2019-12-02%20Workshop%20AI%20in%20Radiological%20Imaging&utm%5Fmedium=email&utm%5Fsource=Eloqua) entitled “Evolving Role of Artificial Intelligence in Radiological Imaging.” The workshop will discuss emerging applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in radiological imaging including AI devices intended to automate the diagnostic radiology workflow as well as guided image acquisition. It will also hear from interested stakeholders to identify the benefits and risks associated with use of AI in radiological imaging, and “best practices” will be discussed on validating AI-automated radiological imaging software and image acquisition devices. “Validation of device performance with respect to the intended use is critical to assess safety and effectiveness,” the agency says.
