Zebra Medical 510(k) for Vertebral Compression Fractures

FDA has cleared a Zebra Medical Vision 510(k) for its Vertebral Compression Fractures an artificial intelligence product that the company says automatically identifies findings suggestive of compression fractures to help clinicians to determine if patients are at risk of osteoporosis. Zebra says its algorithm is designed to detect vertebral compression fractures and can be applied to any CT scan of the chest or abdomen. The software “substantially increases detection rates, raising the number of patients eligible for treatment, without the need for additional staff, imaging or radiation,” the company says. “Identifying patients at risk for osteoporosis has a significant impact on patients’ well-being, as 70% of vertebral compression fractures are underdetected globally,” it says.
