# Zeltiq Aesthetics’ CoolSculpting Cleared for Upper Arm Fat

FDA has cleared a Zeltiq Aesthetics 510(k) for the CoolSculpting device and its use for removing fat on upper arms. The upper arm area will be treated using the company’s CoolAdvantage Petite applicator, which comes with two interchangeable contours designed to treat the area in 35 minutes, the company says. CoolSculpting was previously FDA-cleared for treating fat bulges in the submental area, thigh, abdomen, flank, bra and back fat area, underneath the buttocks and now, the upper arm. The company says the device works by “gently cooling targeted fat cells in the body to induce a natural, controlled elimination of fat cells without affecting surrounding tissue.”
